Having a Virginia Country Club wedding in Long Beach is one of the best decisions you can make. I have photographed a lot of wedding venues in Los Angeles, but this venue has a special feel to it. I’m not sure if it was the freedom to take the golf carts wherever you wanted, the classiness of the venue, or how much fun the wedding party was, but I know that it was a lot of fun.
When we first arrived, we started off with getting ready photos of the bridesmaids. The bride and her bridesmaids were some of the nicest people I have had the honor to photograph. They immediately popped open the champagne bottles (even offered us some) and wanted to get the party started. After this, the finishing touches of the bride getting her makeup and putting on her dress were taken. These photos were so intimate primarily due to both the mother of the bride and flower girls assisting the bride.
Over on the groomsmen’s side, the guys started getting ready in the golf clubs men’s locker room. I know how that sounds reading a guy’s locker room, but this locker room photographed extremely well. The groom and his guys were a fun group, posed for some shots, had a couple of drinks, and were on their way to have a great time.
The bride and groom wanted to do a first look in the archway at the entrance of the property. These moments are my favorite to photograph because I feel its the most authentic moment of love on display. When you get the bride and groom by themselves away from all of the stress of a wedding day, it is a beautiful time. They even read their vows to each other, which was amazing.
Wedding guests started to arrive shortly after the first look, so it was go time! The wedding ceremony reminded me of Jon & Kristin Chu’s wedding I photographed in Napa Valley. The tall trees, the greenery, the smell of nature, and the warm golden light made this ceremony a joy to photograph. Out of all the weddings I have photographed in 2019, this one was my favorite. As wedding photographers, we live for moments like these when its hard to take a bad photograph. When the ceremony concluded, we finished off with wedding party photos, family photos, and the bride and groom photos. The bride and groom photos were taken on the golf course during sunset. Running around on the green, dancing, and driving the golf carts, made this wedding one for the books!
Thank you again to the bride and groom for allowing me to capture your day! Thank you to the florists, makeup artists, caterers, DJ, and wedding coordinators for making this wedding run so smoothly.
